Hacker News Minus AI Hype
Hacker News is a good source of links to all sorts of intellectually stimulating articles and projects, with an emphasis on programming, web design, and related areas. It’s unfortunate that this valuable aggregation has become increasingly diluted with repetitive, uninteresting links about language models: the things that the gullible refer to as “artificial intelligence”. I find this stuff boring, and the infestation makes it harder to find more interesting links in the list, pushing the potentially good stuff down the stack.
“HN Minus AI” is designed to make browsing Hacker News more productive. It takes all the links from the first two pages of HN, uses a sophisticated heuristic1 to identify all the AI hype, and removes it, allowing links of potentially more substance to float upwards. Clicking on comment, submitter, etc. links takes you to the original HN site. The AI-sanitized page is updated every couple of hours.
A brittle, error-prone regular expression.↩︎
