Text Export Difficulties

I'm having difficulty exporting a note.

In setting up the Export / Nakakoji window, after selection of the note and
export template (basic text export), the data window reports that it is:

"unable to locate template Applications in A-OSX:
Don't forget to set the default export template in Document Preferences"

Checking document preferences shows BBEdit selected as the editor. In
addition, in the Document preference window, the application selection link
is blank (above "Open file with: BBEdit") and all listed applications are
grayed out.

Any suggestions?
