I just want to say that I am once again fantastically impressed by the
openness and ease of use of TB.
Prompted by the discussions here, and with valuable contributions from
Mark Bernstein, I've started exploring another avenue to automate the
creation of the note structure and content I need from a folder full of
files. By playing around with minimal TB documents and poking around in
the XML file with BBEdit, I can easily add notes by writing directly to
the file. Furthermore, what I thought was going to be difficult -- the
TB unique item ID -- turns out to be easy. TB handles it all.
The only remaining problem at the moment is automatically creating
notes as children of another note; there isn't a unique sequence in the
file that indicates just the point to do that. But I may find one.
So, kudos to Mark and everyone else for creating such a capable, open
piece of software. Now, just as soon as this Applescript is working I
will share the outcome of my labors.
