Subject: Quick comment about your Opera list.....Date: Fri, 21 Jul 2006

Hello,

Just saw your website talking about the things you don't like about Opera, I didn't even know that OS X had this text dragging thing in general - number 2 in your list on http://lee-phillips.org/osx/opera/ - so I tried it out on Opera and it seemed to work fine...? I could highlight text, drag it out of Opera and drop it in TextEdit? I am using 9.01 beta build 3457 though (latest is build 3471). Can you expand a bit more on the number 2 annoyance?

Cheers - Piers

After I highlight some text I click on the highlighted bit to drag it out but the highlight just goes away. I can drag links out of a page but not unlinked text. I am using Opera 9.00, build 3447 on OS X 10.3.9. Are you on a more recent OS X? I looked on the Opera website just now for other versions to download and release notes but found nothing, just the normal download link. Where can I download beta versions? Anybody else reading this who cares to chime in about text dragging?

You can get the weekly releases at Opera's development team's blog available:

I'm using OS X 10.4.7 btw.

All normal warnings about using betas applies here :)

I just tried out v. 9.01 build 3482, and I still have the problem with text dragging. This is yet another reason to finally upgrade my system, I guess. I have some other problems, mainly with window management, but I won't go into details unless these problems persist after I upgrade to OS X 10.4.
