A searing article in the New York Times describes the practice of Chinese “family planning” agencies kidnapping children off the street and selling them to Americans and other foreigners who are required to make a “donation” (about $5000) to the government “orphanage”. The “donations” are the whole point of the operation, where babies are stolen for profit. If you have made a “donation” in connection with adopting a baby from China, there is a reasonable chance you have purchased a stolen child.
